A savage shooting at Bar Noar in Tel Aviv, a meeting place for the local LGBT community, becomes a turning point in this poignant family drama confronting diverse forms of love and faith. How will the parents of the main character, a 17-year-old young man who miraculously survived the massacre, cope with their son’s unexpected coming-out? And how will the boy’s official fiancée and his circle of friends put up with the new situation?
Israel’s prestigious ensemble of the Habima Theatre presents us with a unique, multi-layered story that explores and sensitively addresses highly relevant issues such as minority rights, homophobia, hate crimes, and conversion therapy. Nevertheless, the mother’s boundless love for her son as well as the son’s adoring attachment to his father turn to be the main trigger of an unforeseen chain of fatal events. Eventually, the young man has to fight not only for his life but also for his soul. The leading role was played by Amit Rahava, an acclaimed Israeli actor, who also won renown for the role of Yanki Shapiro in the German mini-series Unorthodox, which was produced for Netflix.
